COMPLETED: Help reading will from 1863
« on: Sunday 16 May 10 05:52 BST (UK) »
I've attached two images of excerpts from my ggg-grandfather's will which I'm stuck on a couple of words.

In the first image I cannot decipher the last word in the first line.   I read the passage as:
"... not exceed twenty pounds in manner following that is to say our ????
thereof to the said John Bateman if he shall survive me but if he shall..."

In the second image its the 8th word that I can't decipher.
"... for her separate use and the other ???? thereof I give and devise..."

Hoping someone can help me with these.
Tom

Thank you for your help!   I now have a new word added to my vocabulary!

Here are some other puzzles I would appreciate help with deciphering:
Excerpt 1: "...house in which I shall reside at the time of my death and I also give
to her my leasehold ???? or tenement and provisions numbered 4 in Leslie...."

Excerpt 2: "...stores and effects of which I shall be possessed except my flute by
Pr???  And I also give to her all my wearing apparel...."

Here the first word of the second line is the name of the flute maker.   I believe this was an Irish flute.

Pratten is a type of Irish flute developed by Boosey & Company in 1856 in collaboration with flautist Robert Sidney Pratten.

I'm not entirely certain but I think the word you have interpreted as 'provisions', may be 'provisos'.
