If you're interested in the 'social environment' in which the Murrays lived during the 1920s and 30s, Muncie was the subject of an in depth sociological study the results of which were published in two books:  'Middletown' and 'Middletown in Transition' by  Robert Staughton Lynd and Helen Merrell Lynd.

Hello.  Sorry for the delay.  Archibald K Murray and Maude are my great-grandparents.  Charles is my grandfather, who had 4 children (all still living).  As best as I can recall, Archibald was born on the Isle of Mann but I will check -- I have complete records of course for them.  The family farms Archibald established in Indiana were sold 15 years or so ago after Charles passed away.

I would be very interested to hear what you know about the rest of Archibald's family.  Contact was lost with the family solicitors at some point after Archibald's death and the Lost Society of Scotland could not locate the lineage.  Do you happen to know the address of the family home back in Scotland?

Archibald died in 1950, Maude in 1968.  Both are buried in Muncie.  Check "Find a grave" website.
