Agnes Vowless *Completed*

On 7 Jun 1899 Agnes Margaret Gaberilla VOWLESS was born at Kuripuni, near Masterton, the illegitimate child of Amelia Vowless. In 1902, her mother Amelia married Allan Colville and then in 1921 she married Percival Jackson and died as his wife in 1939.

A school record shows my Agnes enrolled at Shannon school in May 1908 with Stephen Vowless (most likely her uncle) as her guardian.

An Agnes Vowless married John Chadwick Carmichael in 1919. There is more than one Agnes Vowless so I'm not sure if this is the one born 1899.

I've tried checking for her under surname Colville and Jackson in case she later took her step-fathers name. Should be easy with three first names, but no luck - so far. Nobody with the right age !

I cannot find a death (or any other mention) for Agnes Margaret Gaberilla Carmichael, so short of ordering a marriage printout has anyone any idea what happened to my Agnes?

Hi John,

I see that John Chadwick Carmichael died in 1922 (there is a probate for him) so if it was your Agnes who married him, she could well have remarried after his death. The BDM site is very slow at the moment so I haven't checked myself for a marriage of Agnes Carmichael.

Hi,
In 1923 an Agnes Carmichael married a David William Harrison McMillan.
I cant find his burial location , there is an Agnes Margaret McMillian listed for Tauranga cremations, in 1988 no age given. I can't seem to find Tauranga online to do any checking.

yes Leandra, just looking at that, ceratinly seems possibility that Agnes remarried after JOhn died

NZSG show newspaper clippings for William David Harrison McMillan for 1964 and 1968, and looks like he could be in Waikumete died 1969 age 74.
