Ki Kieran,

The cemetery in Grangemouth is called Grandsable and is roughly between Grangemouth and Polmont.

Falkirk Council will have details of burials: http://www.falkirk.gov.uk/services/community/cemeteries_and_crematorium/cemeteries.aspx

They're not the quickest at doing look-ups, but they usually get round to it eventually!  ;D

All municipal cemeteries have inter-denominational burials, so it would matter what religion anyone was. I believe that for RC burials, certain sections (or parts of sections) would be consecrated, but I don't know any particular details of when this would be carried out or by whom etc.

Hi Anne,

I have taken you advice and e-mailed Falkirk council with all the details I have.  Hopefully, they will be able to find a grave for the family.

Do you happen to live in the Grangemouth area?

Thanks for all your help

Kieran

Hi Kieran,

I hope you don't have to wait long!

I don't live near Grangemouth - I know a few of the cemeteries though.

Let us know when you hear back from F.C.

Hi Anne,

I have just heard back from Falkirk council.

They have told me that James and Rose McGettigan are interred in Grandsable Cemetery – Section 4 Lair 66 with their parents.

This now helps complete another part of the jigsaw puzzle.

I would love to get a photo of the headstone that's if there is any

Thanks for all your help

Kieran

Oooo!  ;D   That was quick!!   You must be chuffed to bits!

I'll try and get through Grangemouth way within the next couple of weeks, so I'll have a look and see if I can find anything. I know where Section 4 is and it's not that big, so keep your fingers crossed for a stone!

Hi Anne,

Thanks very much for your reply.  That's very kind of you to take the trouble to look.  If you do find anything would you be able to take a few photos of it.  Like the map at the entrance to the cemetery.

Thanks for all your help

Kieran

PS Do you know any Sutherland's in the area?

Don't know of any Sutherlands, sorry, but if I pass any in Grandsable, I'll let you know.

PM sent regarding Cemetery Map.

Hi Anne,

Thank you very much for this.  That has helped with the parents and the children but I notice now that Allison is listed and I have found the death for Anne who was 5 and her mother was McGettigan.

However, I am now stuck as I have looked up records on Scotland's people but can't see the records as there are no images available.

Thanks for all your help as always

Kieran

It is looking like we still have relatives in Scotland.
