Hi, I have researched my my father's side who are Cockburns & have hit a brick wall. I am descended from John Lawrence Cockburn born in Colborne, Ontario, 1893. His father was also, John Lawrence born 1865, in Colborne. His parents were George Cockburn born 1825 in Chirnside, Berwickshire and Agnes Scougale born 1829 in Ayton, Berwickshire. George's parents were George Cockburn born 1789 in Chirnside and Agnes Forsythe born 1786 in Roxburgh, Roxburgh. George's parents were Lawrence Cockburn born 1766 in Coldstream and Elizabeth Paterson. Lawrence's father was Patrick Cockburn. Lawrence was living with a James Cockburn on the 1841 census. I think this might have his brother. There was a James born in 1750 Coldstream to a Rebecca Jones? I could not find a Rebecca Jones but I did find a Rebecca Pow. The name Lawrence has carried through my family. My father & brother have it as their middle name. I have no further info on Elizabeth Paterson or Patrick Cockburn. Do you have this line in your database? Any info would be great! Thanks
