Hi Terence,

Welcome to RootsChat, thats an interesting job you have got there.

Anyway I checked on FreeReg, and a James Dalnavell married a Helen Craig in Stenton Parish Church on 08 Apr 1694. Could this be the same one I wonder. Spott not too far from Stenton.

Hi Tom, I am participating in the Transcribe Scotlandsplaces scheme.  I registered and a couple of days later got access to all the online documents(OS place names, carriage, servant taxes etc., and in this case, hearth taxes) for free, as quid pro quo for a couple of hours of transcription a week. I am cutting my teeth working on the East Lothian hearth taxes at the moment, and have seen a few entries for Dalnavill and its variations, at Tyninghame, Whittingham, Stenton so far.

Hello Beckey,

Looked at some MIs and burial records I have.

Innerwick Burials:
Margaret Watt, Spott, 09/09/1863
Thomas Watt, Spott, 06/10/1805
Janet Daneval, Chesterhall, 29/01/1788
Isabel Dinavel, Birneyknows, 10/07/1794
Janet Dinavel, Spott, 06/05/1813

Spott Burial Records show:
Elizabeth Waitt, wife of George Watson, The Loanhead, 23/11/1692, interred at Whittingehame

Lots of Watt/Wait/Waitts, Unsure if they would be helpful.

Hi mamad,

Thanks for the info. will have to check them against what I have, not much.  The Denivaill I have is a Isobell bapt. 18/3/1716 at Dunbar, father Thomas, she married a Thomas  Wait or Watt in 1742 at Spott, their son James m. a Isabella Gray in 1770 at Spott and their son Andrew b. 1778 Dunbar is the start of my wife's tree.  I believe that whoever wrote the name Wait down in E. Lothian crossed the T to far making TT, that is my opinion.

Regards,
Barry.
