Could someone please help with the death/burial of George IZANT in 1861? His death on FreeBMD is in the June quarter in Newington.

Buried June 1st, 1861 in Norwood Cemetery, Norwood Rd, Lambeth.
aged 53yrs.

There's also a Walter Izant recorded, is he one of yours?

Address Clare Lodge, Clapham Park.  Buried 4 July 1861 Norwood Cemetery age 3 years 2 months.

That's him, thank you! George was at that address a few weeks earlier at the time of the 1861 Census.

Lizzie, have no knowledge of Walter but thanks for your interest. George married my distant cousin Jane nee BULLERWELL and they did not have any children but there may be a more distant connection so will keep the details for Walter on record, thank you.

Are the records in question still being updated? Your relatives may turn up eventually!!   :D

They're probably already on there, my problem is I don't yet know their names.   ???

My g.grandfather was apparently born in Bethnal Green, possibly in the mid 1850s but I can't find his birth.  He had a common name, but his mother didn't and I have already bought too many birth certificates with the "wrong" mother.  I've given up for now and hope that one day, something turns up.

There is a George A. Izant Esq of 8 Anerley Park, listed in the Penge Directory, London Borough of Bromley. Also the High Holborn Street Directory 1869, South Side No.305 Izant Samuel, Lincolns Inn luncheon and dining rooms.
These were the famous dinning rooms as described in the book 'The Victorian City: Everyday life in Dickens' London' by Judith Flanders. Both father and son George left the house with a fortune. Records of the Sun Fire Insurance Office, held by the Guildhall Library MS 11936/540/1191911 dated 21st January 1835...Insured Frederick Izant, Bucklesbury, eating house keeper.
The family are also recorded as being wine merchants too.
The Morning Post London 4th July 1867 Deaths- On the 2nd instant at Clare Lodge, Park Hill, Clapham. Mr Frederick Izant of 21 Bucklersbury, aged 67
There was a George Augustus Izant of 73 Croydon Grove, Surrey, Gentleman, who died 5th April 1902. Probate London 24th July 1902 to Herbert Izant artist. Effects £3,646/6s/1d
There was also a George Agustus Izant Esquire, living at Clare Lodge, Park Place, Clapham in 1867.
There was a George Augustus Izant was baptised 19th March 1857 at St.James Clapham, together with his sister Lucy, their father was George Izant, Tavern keeper and mother Elizabeth.
He married Clara Annabella Hancock in 1876 at Croydon. They had a daughter Grace born in Winchfield Hampshire and a son George Augustus, who was born in Ontario, Canada, he was also know as George Clement Izant of 160 Sinclair Road, Hammersmith, London, when he died on the 10th March 1952
