William Brett
« on: Saturday 12 June 10 21:25 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to research a William Brett born 1875 in Kilkenny, Coal miner hewer and widower according to the english 1911 census where he was a boarder in Durham.

I wonder if he may have returned to Ireland to re marry, as I am looking for a wife named Ethel to a william Brett around 1911-1915 when they were in Wrexham for the birth of a child in 1915

Any help would be appreciated

The civil registration index is available on the Pilot Search on www.familysearch.org. You can cross match the vol & page numbers to try to get a match. Have you searched the UK records for a marriage?

Have you found William on any English or Irish census returns before 1911  ?

another idea to help find the marriage... I've checked freebmd for 1915 Brett births in Wrexham registration district and there's only one....does this fit the details of the child you mentioned ?

 Births - Sep 1915
 James Brett / Wrexham / 11b   / 45[56] / Beddowes

(name /  Registration district / volume / page / mother's maiden surname)

I think the number in bracket means the the page number is unclear in the index

If so a birth cert would confirm parents and Ethel's maiden name and make the marriage search easier..

The reason I mentioned the marriage is that a cert will give a name for William's father.. which can be used to confirm or rule out any births you find.

Shane

p.s. you said in your first post that you were looking for detail of his wife ?

...
...if he may have returned to Ireland to re marry, as I am looking for a wife named Ethel to a william Brett around 1911-1915 .....

Hi

I can't find any marriage between William Brett and Ethel Beddowes, hence  Iam going off at a tangent looking at other William Bretts born about 1876 who are cola miner hewers.
