Cad é 'Circus Siubháil'?
« on: Monday 14 June 10 10:29 BST (UK) »
Chonaic mé slí bheatha "Circus Siubháil" i leabhar rolla scoil náisiúnta.  Ó Murraigh an t-ainm a bhí ar an clann agus an seoladh a bhí acu ná "Ó háit go háit".

An bhfuil fhios ag éinne cad é "Circus Siubháil"?  Agus, an bhfuil an sloinne Murray i mbéarla

Ceapaim go raibh siad ina lucht siúil - "tinkers" (nó "travellers" i láthair na huaire) mar téann siad ó áit go háit

B'fheidir gur "siubháil" agus "siúl" an focal céanna

Go raibh maith agat eadaoin.
Cosúil leatsa, ceapann m'fhear chéile go bhfuil 'siubháil' an focal céanna ná 'siúil', agus go 'travelling circus' atá sé.

Tá an ceart agat IBUD.  An bhrí le Circus Súibhuil  ná, 'travelling circus'
An litriú ar an focail  Súibail inniú = súil.

agus aontaíonn duine ar an mBord "Daltaí" le sin freisin.

Deir Sé

"Siubháil = Siúl = ag bogadh thart

Níl mé cinnte faoi an sloinne; ach is dócha go bhfuil an ceart agat."

Níl aon seoladh "Ó háit go háit" san Ceann-cad-é 1901 nó 1911.

An é sin Traibh Foruineach?

Ón leabhair, " Maichin it up ón Bearla gan seighim".

Dara.

Bfheidir go bhfuil siad ag caint faoi "Circus employee"

Agus an sloinne (address) o hait go hait = from place to place

Marray as Berala = ó muirí

I think he was a memer of a travelling circus and with no fixed abode
