Rubyx, are you still checking out this forum? I have Pettigrew material to forward to you, but as you can see from the Moderator's comments on the above post, we both need to post at least three messages before we can use the Personal Message (PM) system to communicate privately - we're not allowed to exchange email addresses in public here - and it seems you have only posted one message so far. So unless you have more comments or queries to post here, I can't communicate with you, and I have far too much material to post on this forum.

Hi Harry
Just came back from holiday myself this evening, which is why I haven't replied. Very interested in your posts but as you say I'll need to post one more message then we'll be able to contact each other by Pm

This is interesting!  Helen (Pettigrew) Huggan was my GG Aunt.  Maybe we ought to start a Pettigrew in Hawick topic???

Well, Moderator, I'm going to need some help to access the PM facility, because when I tried the web address given above, all I got was several useful links to remedies for pre-menstrual tension (PMS).

James Jeffrey was born c 1854 in Kelso - I don't have a date yet but hoping to visit the local Records office next time I am 'Up North' - unless my mum gets there first!!! His parents were James Jeffrey and Agnes - unfortunately her name is too difficult to read... His father James was also a tailor and he died before the marriage in 1885 - the date on the marriage cert is Dec 31st 1885. My Great Grandmother Agnes Jeffrey (daughter of James and Helen Huggan) married John Sinton 3rd April 1909 - their first child was born on 5th April 1909 so they cut it fine..lol... she died in first qtr 1956 (currently waiting for her death certificate to arrive). Will try to post more info after school run!!!!
I've started a SINTON/JEFFREY topic to continue the SINTON aspect of this conversation, I hope it can be found at
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,411753.msg2786351.html#msg2786351
as I'd love to hear more about the SINTON side of this family.

Hi Harry,
I'm sure the pms hints came in most useful for you!
Try clicking (in the lh panel) on the underlined name/log on id of the person you want to send a message too
You will be taken to their profile, and one of the options at the bottom is "send a personal message to this person).
Of course it may not be there until they've done the 3 postings referred too, but yours is, I tried it.
Regards,
Cuz Lorna
