Albert Bodkin killed in action
« on: Sunday 20 June 10 14:20 BST (UK) »
Hi

My wives uncle Gunner Albert George Bodkin 256 Bty 82nd AA Regt Royal Artillery was killed in action in Norway on 22 May 1940. I know where his grave is in Norway. What I was wondering was, is there a war diary or something similar which could give more circumstances surrounding his death.

Regards
Smokey

Where in Norway was your Albert killed?

I have a general interest in the 1940 war in Norway.

This may be a shot in the blind, but I ll post it anyway:

May 22, 1940: British forces in Dunderlandsdalen, Rana, Nordland withdraws from their last positions after a short exchange of fire and leaves over Saltfjellet north to Viskiskoia.

Source: The book "Felttoget" compiled after notes/diary by Norwegian General Otto Ruge.
(This book has many references to British forces; King-Salter, Paget)
