Hi CJ
The only mention of the name Templeton is in Kirkmaiden and refers to Jean Templeton, spouse of John Paterson who died 11th march 1824 aged 84 years. Also Catherine Paterson 4th daughter of John Paterson and Jean Templeton who at Stranraer in 1848.
This is a really long inscription, so if it's one of yours let me know and I will give you the full inscription.
Kiond Regards

Hi Cjeff,
Here is a burial record for two TEMPLETON deaths in Stoneykirk Parish which are recorded elsewhere in Wigtownshire.  [The personal message I sent you gives more details on TEMPLETON burials.]

This is a good of example of a Scottish gravestone which is actually a Family Memorial listing members who have died locally and abroad.  There is an understandable tendency to think a gravestone is a burial record of those interred in that lair (grave plot), this example clearly demonstrates that is NOT always the case.

Location  Glenluce Graveyard WIG: DGFHS Survey, (2006)
[ Square column with draped urn ]
Charles TEMPLETON, tenant in High Torrs, who died the 15th of November 1816 aged 72 years
Also his son, James TEMPLETON, who died the 17th of October 1815 aged 20 years
Also his son, William TEMPLETON, who died the 4th April 1818 aged 16 years
Also his spouse, Mary McHARG, who died the 18th of September 1819 aged 57 years

And his son, James TEMPLETON, who died in Trinidad the 27th of January 1844 aged 21 years
And his son, Alexander TEMPLETON, who died the 8th of November 1836 aged 2 years

Hi all.

I too have a request for info from Stoneykirk.

My great-great grandmother Margaret 'Maggie' FRASER (nee Wilson) - died 18th May 1954 in Camrie - Glenluce.

I have the MI booklet for Glenluce Church Street Cemetery and three of her children are buried in the same plot (421) but it mentions that Maggie was interred at Stoneykirk.

I looked at the MI book for Stoneykirk & Kirkmadrine but she isn't in there, so I assume she was buried at the 'new' churchyard to the north-west of the village, however no inscription booklet has been produced for this cemetery,

Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who could help me in the search for my ancestor's grave?

Hi,

I am hoping someone may be able to help me.

I am searching for a tombstone inscription or death records for-

William DOUGLAS b circa1740 and his wife
Jean nee McNAIRN b1742

Also their son-

Alexander DOUGLAS b 1776 and his wife
Catherine nee McKENZIE.

Alexander and Catherine DOUGLAS lived in Twomark with their sons-
William b1807 and Alexander b 1811.

I belive the family was in STONEYKIRK Parish as I have obtained
their birth records on LDS films.

Thank you for your help.

I am visiting Stoneykirk area this September for 2 days - cannot wait!
As I only have 2 days I want to cram in everything possible and though if someone could possibly help me with MIs for the area I could get ahead.

Margaret McChlery Kerr d 1853
John Kilpatrick/Kirkpatrick d 1879 (died Portpatrick but from Stoneykirk)
Elisabeth McGill Kilpatrick/Kirkpatrick d 1869 (also died Portpatrick but from Stoneykirk)
William Kilpatrick/Kirkpatrick d 1843
Magaret McGill Kilpatrick/Kirkpatrick d 1840
