I have just noticed that Bowraville Cemetery is on the "work in progress" list on this terrific website for the Australian Cemeteries index

It might be some months before Bowraville is added, however if there is a headstone it will be worth the wait, this is a wonderful site where I have found many of my "missing" relatives.

Tammy - good news for you - I'm off to Bowraville this week end. I've got the details of your Catherine Owens, but if you have any more that may be in Bowraville Cemetery, please let me know by 8th July.

Cass - yes, that it a great site for for researching. As far as Bowraville being a "work in progress", that's probably because I donated the photo's I took of your ancestors' headstones to that site

Thank you Les, I am so excited. Hopefully Catherine or any of the others have a headstone.

There were a lot of related Owens in the area at the time. The ones that I can come up with off hand are:

James Owens D:23-8-1903 (Grandparents to my original Catherine Owens)
Margaret Owens D: 20-11-1909
Their Children:
Sarah Fleming (nee Owens) D: 16-12-1934
Peter Owens D: 1952
His wife Kathleen Owens (nee Hennessy)
Their child:
Francis John Owens D: 2-9-2000

Hopefully that is not too confusing.

Hi Les and Tammy, I was out at Bowraville with my daughter this morning. We didn't have a lot of time but in case it is helpfull, we found a Peter Owens died 19th Jan 1952 aged 80 years, next to him was Catherine Owens (Our Dear Mother) Passed away 13.10.1968 Aged 80 years Always remembered by her loving family. Also on this grave was a plaque which read; Mary Margaret Owens 7.4.1907-19.12.2001. We also found "In loving memory of our dear son Peter, died 6th January 1937 aged 1 year erected by J.P & E. Owens.
Les, when you go to the cemetary, we found all the Owens in the catholic section, there are a few Flemmings as well.  We only found the one Catherine though it doesn't necessarily mean yours isn't there.

 I am afraid that I didn't have much information for Les to go from but at least he now knows which way to go. Most of the names and dates match up with my tree. I guess the Owens family was bigger then I really new. Now to piece together the puzzle.

Thanks again. Whatever you can see or get would be fantastic. I am just hoping that my original Catherine Owens parents (my G Grandparents) were rich enough to get a headstone for her.
