Hi,

I have a Sarah FOALE with the following information:

d. 09 Jul 1754
Woodleigh, Devonshire, England
Baptism
27 Nov 1698
Moreleigh, Devonshire, England
m. Sture, George  02 Sep 1719
Sherford, Devonshire, England
d. 05 May 1760

Can anyone find any information showing who her parents were?

I believe her parents were Philip Foale b. 1664 East Allington ,died 13 May 1742 East Allington. Her Ma was called Sarah b. 1668 East Allington, Devon,U.K. Although I cannot find her baptisim record on our4bears site. I have found Sarah as born in Woodleigh ,but again no confirmation from Ray at our4bears.

For anyone out there that's still interested. The Bishop's Transcript for 1688 for Moreleigh has the following entries.
Sarah the daughter of Philip ffoale junr and Sarah his wife was baptised the 27th day of November.
Sarah the daughter of Philip ffoale junr was buried the 25th day of December.
I have not found a baptism record of a Sarah Foale for the 27th November 1698.

Further to my entry above. Bishop's Transcripts for Moreleigh  -   Between 25th March 1689 and March 1695 only a fragment of one page appears to exist (year not known).

Baptism Register for Moreleigh  -  The parish baptism register before 25th March 1695 appears not to exist. There is no entry for Sarah Foale on 27th November 1698.

There is the following entry. "George ye son of Philip ffoal yeoman and his wife Sarah was baptized ffebruary 6th 1698." (NB. This is a Julian calendar date and was after November 1698).

There  is no record of any Foale baptisms at Woodleigh (the adjacent parish) at this time.

Following the death of infant Sarah Foale in December 1688, it is possible that Philip and Sarah produced another daughter who they named 'Sarah', but I can find no record of it. (There are big gaps in the records even when combined).

At Sherford on the 1st September 1719, George Sture married a Sarah Foale. If anyone has any evidence which identifies her parents, I would be very pleased to hear of it. There are many mentions on the web of her being the daughter of Philip and Sarah Foale of Moreleigh, but I can find no evidence to support this.
