No marriage record for a Maria Gaghan or Ferguson that I can find in Co. Sligo or Roscommon.

The only one is Mary McGeoghran in Athlone RC in 1850.  I searched for a Patrick McLoughlin with the same search criteria and no joy - sorry :'(

There are two marriages in Co. Roscommon for Patrick McLoughlin:

1847 Knockcroghery RC
1849 Tibohine - Fairymount RC

The county boundaries altered slightly particularly in the midlands and sometimes you will find that one time it was listed as Co. Roscommon or Mayo, and another it was listed as Co. Sligo.  So its worth keeping that in mind.

Cant find any birth records for the children, are you sure they were born in Ireland?

Hope this doesnt confuse you more !

Good luck and hope you get results

Hi Tu,
thanks for your help. I'm not sure where my great grandfather was born but some of the children were born in Hull. I think I'll have to visit the R.C. church where I think they were baptised and see what I can find. It's frustrating when you hit a brick wall , but I'm getting used to it.
I really appreciate you taking the time to look for me, thanks.
Cute pooch by the way.

My Milmoe/Mattimoe and Magee/McGee ancestors originated from the parish of Aghanagh and they were intermarried at various stages with the McLaughlin and Ferguson families. I viewed these church records more than once many years ago, but a word of warning; even though the records commence 1803 there are large missing gaps. Also, Aghanagh spans part of Co Roscommon in which case it is not possible to know which county they come from when the location is not given.

Good luck,
J.T.A.

No probs Janine, your very welcome, it gives you a little lift when a fresh pair of eyes look at what you have been trying to unravel doesnt it.  I keep bumping into those walls myself, but give it time and who knows !  McLoughlin is a typically irish name, and there are lots around Sligo and Leitrim.

Good idea to check out the record, otherwise you could be chasing your tail all over the county.
Its good news if there is a christening record as at least you have a starting point.

Pooch is RIP Im afraid  :'( thus the name TuTu

Happy hunting

hi...
I believe we are related as my g-g-great grandad was Patrick my g-g granddad is Thomas Mcloughlin married to Sarah. my Great granddad is Charles Henry McLoughlin.
I dont have too much on my family tree at the moment but if we could get in touch with each other it would be great if we could maybe see if we are related and help each other if so.

Hi,
Your great grandfather was my Mum's uncle Charlie. His brother, George was my grandfather. There are quite a lot of McLoughlins in the Hull area researching the family tree, have you been in touch with any ?
