What happened to Mary Ann
« on: Thursday 01 July 10 20:50 BST (UK) »
Mary Ann Dalziel was born 23/2/1881 in Lochee, Dundee, Scotland. She married George Craik Law in 1900. They had four children,  Alexandrina 1904,  George Craik 1905,  Andrew  ??  and William  ??.
Her husband was killed in action in France in 1917. All that is known of Mary Ann is that she went to Canada after husband's death. Many questions include : when did she go, where did she go, did she marry again ? So many questions, so few clues.  Any suggestions on the way forward would be appreciated.

Hi, dettori28
Many thanks for all the information, and so speedy.
I now have plenty to be going on with for the time being.
At a later date I have another Law to follow up on, but that is for another day.
Once again many many thanks.

Hi, dettori28
Going back to your first reply, Mary Ann went to her daughter Margaret Phillip, ( born 5/12/1900 in Dundee)  Is it possible to find out when she (Margaret) emigrated ?
Another one I'm trying to trace is David Balfour Law (nephew of Mary Ann) emigrated around 1930 on the Albertic. His wife was Edna Alberta Henry, Born 1916 in St Marys Ontario. (Marriage date unknown) They had 2 children one possibly still alive, and Marjorie born 1944 Cambridge Ontario died 2009.
Another member of the Law family emigrated to New Zealand and I am in contact with descendants.
All the information from Canada is new to them.
Thanks in anticipation

Hello Bob,

Apologises I did not notice you had posted again.  I see David Balfour Law he was going to an Uncle Mr G Johnson. R P 22. Niagara On The Lakes. Ontario. Father Robert Law. 21 Lawrence Street. Dundee.  Unfortunately there are no further records that will help you with your search, Canada has such strict privacy laws.
I cannot see Margaret travelling as Dalziel or Phillip - do you know if she was married when she went to Canada ?  Chances are she may not have gone very long before her Mother joined her, so again, there are no Census records to be able to pick them up. I will try a few more spelling variations later but don't hold out alot of hope at the moment. Sorry  :(

Hi,
Many thanks for the information. That is very helpful. I must go and buy a map of Ontario.
So many different places and all in Ontario. A distant relative on the other side of my wife's family emigrated in 1904 ( I have full details of her) and she went to Carleton County, also in Ontario.
It's a small world. Once again many ,many thanks for all your kind help.
Bob.
