Don`t be sorry, I`m happy for any information.... Interesting that someone else out there has a diary from one of my ancestors.....I`ve studied the diary that I have, quite a few times, and you always pick up something new.....

This must be James Beatson Fenton Wingate as James Fenton Wingate had died at sea returning from Ceylon in 1890

London Gazette  -  Oliver wingate of 23 Jamaica St Glasgow executor of Georgiana Jane Wingate and guardian of the children of her and his late brother William ceased on the 31st day of March 1845 to have any interest in the concern carried on in South John Street Liverpool under the style of William Wingate and Johnston, commission agents.

I would like to know more about J. F Wingate. I believe that he is also the Cousin of Sir reginald Francis Wingate. I have his three draw telescope with his name on it. I also believe he was a tea planter in ceylon.
