Tin Hat Lookup Request
« on: Thursday 08 July 10 14:21 BST (UK) »
Hi, if anyone has access to Hinckley Parish Church records could they have a look for Christening of Matthew Bailey for me, later census returns suggest his birth as 1801 so if Christened I imagine it would be between then and 1803.

From the parish records currently available on FindMyPast there is only one baptism with the surname Bailey - Sarah, daughter of John and Sarah - born 17 December 1804 and baptised at St Mary, Hinckley on 3 June 1805.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

According to Mr G there is an amateur theatre society in Hinckley - The Tinhatters  :-\  Plus this:

I would have associated Framework Knitters with Hinckley, but then what would I know?

The Tin Hat is part of Hinckley's history, as is the knitters framework, knitwear in general and the Hansom Cab.  We have a lovely museum too...
