I knew the Perritts and their hotel quite well.

The hotel is the Bayview Hotel http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3532413. In the Perritts' day it had an excellent reputation and the restaurant was very popular.

The shop/gallery was a little further up the street, on the same side and above the railway viaduct. I think it's this one http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2993846 but it might have been the one next door to the left.

Thank you for the links, I have a picture of Peter his brother Robbie and their cousin Victor, who was Victor of Victor James tablet, at my parents wedding, Victor was my parents best man,  if you are interested I could send you it by email. I  was always interested in Peters designs, I have a couple of pieces.

Talking of small world & coincidences I saw the name Perritt & as I have been searching my husband's Pettit(t)s thought I'd take a look at this thread.
Nothing to do with the name but we were some of the last guests to stay at the Bayview, for a Scottish country dancing weekend in Buckie.  The Danish owner was returning home & told us that it was to become a private house, it must have wonderful views from the room at the top!

Oddly enough, I actually stayed there for the first and only time almost exactly a year ago, to avoid the alcohol and driving issue on a special occasion.
