Marriage of Peter John Colston and Kathleen Mary Swales

The wedding took place at All Saints’ Church, Alton, on Saturday of Miss Kathleen Mary Swales, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs F Swales of 12 Lovatt Street, Newport Pagnsll, Bucks, and Mr Peter John Colston of 25 Mount Pleasant Road, Alotn. The Rev J S Sharp officiated and the hymns were ‘Love Divine’ and ‘Lead us, heavenly Father’.
Given away bu her father, the bride was attired in a dress of white tafetta, full length veil and a headdress of ornge blossom, and carried a bouquet of red carnations. She was attended by her sister, Miss Patricia Swale, who was dressed in turquoise blue with a flowered headdress and carried a posy of sweet peas. Mr Allan Spencer RN (friend of the bridegroom) was best man.
The reception, held at the Baverstock Tearooms, was attended by 25 guests.
The bridegroom is serving in the Royal Navy and the bride is in the WRNS.’

Peter John Colston, 19, RN Air Service, son of Alfred Thomas Colston, roundsman, married to Kathleen Mary Swales, 19, WREN, daughter of Frederick Thomas Swales, juvenile employment officer.
1933 9 April, Peter John Colston, son of Alfred Thomas and Eva Eleanor, baptised at St Lawrence’s. Born on 21 Feb.
In the 1935 Register of Electors, Alfred and Eva were living at 14 Lansdowne Road, Alton.
Alfred Thomas had merried Eva Eleanor Ward in the December quarter of 1931 in the Epsom district and been born in Alton in December quarter 1906.
