I'm looking for some information on WILLIAM GORTON & MARTHA TELLING.

William Gorton born  c.1769 in  Shrivenham, Berkshire.
Died  c.1821?

Martha Telling born  c.1774  Shrivenham, Berkshire.
Died  c.1821.

Looking for the date of their marriage and also their parents if possible.

I already  have their children:
John,  George,  William,  Elizabeth,  Joseph,  Sophia  and Charlotte.

William.  bap. 1 FEb 1774 at Uffington.Berks.   Father - William  submitted record

William Gorton  18 July 1770  Uffington Berks. Parents Mathew and Elizabeth -extracted record

Extracted records are from Parish records whereas the submitted records are from individuals and therefore need to be checked.

Uffington is very near to Shrivenham

I am sorry that I was unable to access further records.  Berkshire Record office may be able to help you with further enquiries

Do you still need anything from the Uffington records as I could go to the museum in Uffington and look at the registers - they have baptisms, marriages and deaths (can't remember off hand what years they cover but I think the births go back into 1600's).

The baptism on 1 Feb 1774 at Uffington, Berks does not exist in the parish registers.

The Uffington, Berks baptism registers have:
Jul 18 1770 William GORTON, son of Matthew and Elizabeth of Woolstone.
Feb 16 1800 John GORTON, aged 3 days, son of William and Martha (TILLEN), Woolstone

The Uffington, Berks marriage registers have:
Oct 10 1799 William GORTON, b., and Martha TILLEN, sp., b.o.t.p.
Witnesses: Thomas Johnson and William Noake (who was a regular witness)

The village of Woolstone is next to Uffington at the base of The White Horse.

There is no marriage entry in the Uffington registers for Matthew Gorton and Elizabeth Tuwey/Toohey.

There are no baptism, marriage or burial entries for Tuwey / Toohey or Turvey (except the inclusion of the maiden name Turvey on the baptism below for 30 May 1784.
