SANTILLO Family
« on: Friday 23 July 10 16:29 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find any information on Peter Santillo who was born in Gosport Hampshire about 1827 and died in Devon 1899.

He married a Harriet Bennett (1827-1907) who was from was born in Plymouth and they got married in East Stonehouse.

They had 8 children that I'm aware of:
Fredrich John, Peter Vincent, Alfred Ernest, Charles Reuben, Henry Herbert. William, Edwin George & Albert Edward.

Any information on Peter Santillo and/or his parents would be great as I've come up a blank.

there is a submitted record on IGI for Peter being born Peter S Vincent Santillo b. in Gosport which is Hampshire
and the 1851 census for Devon shows a May Santillo now aged 32 with daughter Sarah a dressmaker  aged 26 both born Hampshire (Sarah Gosport) i cant read Marys occupation clearly she was born West M... Hampshire she says she is married and daughter Mary aged 8 b. Plymouth
they are in huts a long stoke lane which would indicate they are likely to be  the same Santillos from 1841

this seems to be daughter Marys birth reg. in which case it should show her parents names
Mary Louisa Santillo

I have seen some things on the National Archives pertaining to this family ...it appears that sometimes they go by the name Saxby-Santillo ..I wwonder if that's what the "S" initial in Peter's name refers to?

Toni ..it looks like she's a green grocer and her age looks like 52 (which makes sense having a daughter aged 26 ;D).

so where is her husband?  There is another Peter Santillo living in Devon in 1861

screen all jumpy ...will post details

i would expect the 30 marriage entries perpetuate to the same Santillo family considering the name is not as common as smith and therefore worth investigating further

ps thanks Deb as neat as the writing was i just couldnt make it out, maybe the enumerator was also a doctor!
