PLEASE Help find birth reg
« on: Monday 26 July 10 17:28 BST (UK) »
I am having real difficulty finding my gg grandads birth reg, Here is what I do know and would be so grateful if anyone can take a look for me. I am looking for the birth of William Henry Taylor  born Burringham  Lincolnshire

1881 census lists him as 27 years old (est dob = 1854)
1891 census lists him as 34  "       "   (est dob = 1857
1901 census lists him as 48 "        "   (est dob = 1853)
1911 census lists him as 58 "        "   (est dob = 1853
His death cert indicates he was 93 years old in 1945 (30th december) est dob  =1852
He married Mary Sanderson Dec 24 1874 at Whitgift Parish Church and was shown as being of  'full age' His father is shown as George Taylor  labourer.

I have looked at a lot of the birth indexes but can't find a WH Taylor born in Burringham Could it be registered somewhere else?
I really have hit a brick wall with this, any help or suggestions as how to extend my search would be very much appreciated.

Burringham is the Regisdtraton District of Glanford Brigg - so that is what will be in the index.

Taylor is, unfortunatey, a very common name!
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

There are at least two men called William Henry Taylor born Glanford Brigg. One';s birth was registered in the June quarter 1860 and the other in the same quarter of the following year.

There is also a William Taylor registered in the Sep 1855 quarter and one from Dec 1851.

I cannot offhand see which of these might be yours or how you will distinguish between them.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

A few thoughts which may or may not turn out to be relevant:

There seems to be a George TAYLOR born in Butterwick or East Butterwick abt 1832-3.  This is the same birthplace as the elderly William TAYLOR in that 1861 household who may or may not have been George's grandfather.

Census refs for George:

1841: HO107/640/18/5/15
1851: HO107/2117/325/7

If William/Henry's birth preceded any marriage between George and Charlotte, it's likely to have been registered in her maiden name.

NB Charlotte's birthplace is given in the 1871, 1891 and 1901 censuses as Ipswich (abt 1829-1830).

Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)

Suffolk: Markham (Framlingham)
Surrey: Gosling (Richmond)
Wilts: Matthews, Tarrant (Calne, Preshute)
Worcs: Milward (Redditch)
Yorks: Beaumont, Crook, Moore, Styring (Huddersfield); Middleton (Church Fenton); Exley, Gelder (High Hoyland); Barnes, Birchinall (Sheffield); Kenyon, Wood (Cumberworth/Denby Dale)
