Downey/O'Neill/Kearney
« on: Thursday 29 July 10 17:03 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I would be interested to hear from anyone related to Bernard Downey (son of James Downey and Catherine O'Neill) born 1894 and who wed Elizabeth Kearney (daughter of John and Annie) in Hannahstown in 1920. I can find the Downeys in 1901 and 1911 but not the Kearneys. Also I found the marriage record of James Downey and Catherine O'Neill in Hannahstown in 1882 but can't find one for John Kearney to Annie. They were all Roman Catholics.
 Many thanks.
 Brian

Hey how are you doing? I have done some family research and think that the Bernard Downey you mention is my great gaprandfather. How is your research going? Please get in touch. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Kim thanks for the reply.

I'm new to researching, but am sure that this James Downey and Catherine O'Neill are my great great grand parents.

Bernard Downey born around 1884 is my great grandfather. He married Elizabeth Kearney who died apparently during childbirth with their son Hugh around 1928. Bernard remarried a lady called Sarah, unfortunately I don't have a surname for Sarah.

My grandfather, son of Bernard and Elizabeth, is also called Bernard Downey.

I'm interested in any information at all.

Thanks for your help

Phil

Hello Phil & Kim

Robert DOWNEY & Rose Ellen BURNS are my maternal great-great grandparents. Their son Robert Jnr is my great grandfather. He married Susan LONG at Dromore RC Church, she died in childbirth, and his 2nd wife was a protestant girl Gertrude Annie FAULKNER from Desertlyn, Londonderry where they married circa 1885 and we assume this is when he gave up his catholic faith. My mother is related down through Robert & Getrude.

I have Robert Snr and Rose Ellen married on 1st January 1854 at Dromore RC Church.

I have a possible baptism for Robert Snr on 20th Jan 1828 at Dromore RC Church to a James DOWNEY and Margaret CROTHERS. This has not been confirmed, but I am awaiting a reply from the Dromore RC Church clerk, who has offered to look up the church records for me.

I will keep in touch and pass on any information I receive from Dromore.
