What parts of Leicestershire are you connected with?
« on: Thursday 29 July 10 20:52 BST (UK) »
What bits of Leicestershire do you and your ancestors hail from?

I'm originally from Kirby Muxloe; my gran lived in Thornton until 10 years ago, when she died, so I knew Thornton quite well.

But aside from all over the city of Leicester, I've also found direct links in:
Blaby, Enderby, Desford, Ibstock, Barwell, Newton Linford, Great Glenn, Mkt Bosworth, Belgrave (or does that count as city now?), Shepshed, the Langtons, Stathern, Kibworth, Quorndon, Tilton, probably others that escape me at the moment ---

I don't live in Leicestershire anymore and never felt very connected with it before, having left when I was a child - but now that I know I had ancestors in all corners, it's starting to feel like home!!

Where are your Leicestershire roots?
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)
Holyland (Anywhere and everywhere, also Holiland Holliland Hollyland)
Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)

well. I'm a relative newcomer then! the first generation of my family to be born 'down here' in good old loughborough. Geordies for parents and generations back!

However i have worked in 60 or so schools throughout the county -so does that count!
