Thomas Spencer christ. 2nd Aug 1848
Anne Spencer christ. 21st April 1850
Mother is listed as Ellen Spencer, but frustratingly ...... no father listed.
Pity we cannot see the actual record, sometimes the actual entry can sometimes reveal fathers
name when parents are not married. Might be aswell to check bastardy records?

Interestingly Thomas was a blacksmiths apprentice in 1861 living in Hednesford,
but with the family of John and Harriet Wright.
Alyson123

p.s. not sure if you have seen this, but on ancestry there is a public member tree stating
that Thomas Spencer gave fathers name as William Saunders on his marraige cert.

Alyson123:  unfortunately we are now in the realms of the printed form for baptisms!  Although some vicars did make the odd comment  :) There was no further information for Emily (and she was the last of the three so might have elicited some comment), and doubt whether there would be for the other two children, but I can check it out the next time I go to Lichfield!

sorry BumbleB,
I don't understand?? I meant looking in the actual church register when christened, that would have
been hand written would'nt it?

Hi Alyson:  Yes, the register was hand-written but starting 1812 they used pre-printed books and details under the various headings were entered by hand.  Some vicars did write comments, and in some there are birth dates written in the margin, as only the baptism date was a designated column.  Column headings were@  When baptised, Child's Christian Name, Parents Name - split into Christian and Surname, Abode, Quality, Trade or Profession and By whom the Ceremony was performed.  There was a pre-printed number for each of the entries.

Ohhh!.......now, I'm with you BumbleB, did'nt realise you were referring to the format
of the printed register itself ..... sorry I think we were at cross-purposes.You are right to point
this out,  the earlier registers would almost certainly have had a comment from the disgruntled vicar! ::)

Alyson 123 and BumbleB

I have just found Emilys marriage certifcate and she named her father as William Saunders - Trainer - married St Lukes Cannock 5th June 1876
Witness were Ann Smallman and Amos Craddock.
Would you have anyway of finding out where they would have lived when married I have found an old family photo  on the back it says her Mother Ellen was a servant for Thomas Saul Saunders, at "The Cottage" stables.
I will put this together with all the good things you both gave me.
I think I can possibly know put together a family tree.
You have both been amazing could not have done it without you.
Grateful thanks for all your hard work.
