hi there, just read your post I too are looking for the old church at templeboy. I have looked at the griffiths map, and google maps and not sure where to find it. theres a bridge, so if I am heading west are the remains of the church on the left or the right. if anyone knows please let me know we are planning to visit in June.

just a quick thing, is there a reference confirming this. On the griffiths map it mentions the chapel on the riverside, up on the N road

i have checked griffiths, and the church is supposed to be on the main N road, west of the new church in the wooded area. I have read a reference elsewhere as this is the site, on the opposite side of the road from the new church down the hill. its still on the river by the bridge. any thoughts?

The old church, the ruin of which is still visible beside the stream in Donecoy was probably built about the mid 1700's.... which is why I posted the link to stream at Donecoy!!!

If you go to stream on N road it is NOT Donecoy!!  It is Ardkill townland!

N = North...  up on the NORTH road

roads didn't have N categories then, or M for motorway or R for regional!!

A road was a road in Griffith's time!

this is griffiths and you can see a building there in the hollow by the bridge and river, looks like a square remains from the air as well
