MERITOUS SERVICE MEDAL

My Great Uncle, John Charles ROBERTS, served with 14th Hussars, Manchester Regt and South Wales Borderers. The last two as Bandmaster. He retired from Army in 11/11/1915 at age of 49. He was awarded the Meritous Service Medal, Army Order NO44/1942. It seems rather a long time after his retirement. Does anyone know who I can contact for confirmation?
