3 Molton Street, London
« on: Friday 06 August 10 16:00 BST (UK) »
I wondered if anyone knows how I can find out the history of 3 Molton Street.

My Grandmother used to have 2 framed needlework pieces hanging in her hall way, and these had been passed down to her by her mother.

Recently my parents had these reframed for my new home, and on the back inside the framework was the following note:-

"Mrs Evershed, 3 South Molton Street, London w. Church - a secular needlework".

I would love to know more about these pieces and when they were embroidered, so wondered if anyone knows any of the history of 3 Molton Street please.  I'm wondering if it were Mrs Evershed's home address, or perhaps the address of the church or needlework club?

Hi Suzidude - if you search Google Books for EVERSHED SOUTH MOLTON STREET a lot of references come up for a Mrs Evershed at No. 8 - unfortunately I can't find any where you can look at the actual article...but you might have more luck than me!!  She seems to have been known for her needlework in the 1930s.    Dazey

oh my goodness i cant believe how fab you all are. I was looking again last night and it does say 8 south molton street not 3 as I first thought, so I think you have found my lady. Unfortunately I can only access the web on my mobile at the moment as just moved but shall try your suggestions next week when I get on line. Thank you all so much
