Kiely family of Killarney,County Kerry
« on: Saturday 07 August 10 12:36 BST (UK) »
I am trying to help a cousin of mine trace her family ancestry.
The only information that we have is that her Grandfather Maurice Kiely was born in 1922, he is the son of Michael Joseph Kiely and Bridget O'Sullivan.
Unfortunatly I have no dates for Michael and Bridget only that they were resident in Killarney at the time of Maurices birth.

Any help would be gratefully recieved

Kimberley

Probably the best places to start are with possible birth certs for the birth of Maurice and his parents marriage. There's quite a good possible match for Maurice's birth in the index :

 Name: Maurice Kiely
 Registration District: Killarney
 Event Type: Birth
Quarter and Year: Jul - Sep 1922
 volume : 5 / page : 194

You can order certs from the GRO to see if the details fit. See : Introduction to Irish Records

I'll have a search for the marriage and see if any possible matches for that..

A possible marriage for the parents from the BMD Index - in the same area :

 Name: Michael Kiely
 Registration District: Killarney
 Event Type: Marriage
Quarter and Year: Oct - Dec 1913
 volume : 5 / page : 158

 Name: Bridget O'Sullivan
 [same index details]

The same reference details mean that the two names appear on the same registry page, which means that a marriage between them is possible. (marriage registers usually had 2 to 4 marriages per page). Given the common names it is possible that this is a different Michael & Bridget, but would probably be worth a try if it fits the other details you have re location, dates etc.
