BigJon,
My grandparents lived at Westerstrath, its just one building in the field below a Farm and close to the River Avon, I have photos of the remains on another computer if you need to see it. This place is not easy to find
the family was Reynolds.

James.

that would be fantastic James.
My g/grandfather Thomas Reid was born there 12 March 1860 and eventually emigrated to South Africa.
Iwish to visit there later this year and photos may help me to find the right place.

thanks again................bigjon

bigjon,
I live only a few miles from the place, and was born not more than 3 miles from there and I can tell you it can't be found with any map or photo. It took me ages to finally locate the place, its not in any way sign posted although there are directions to Middle Strath and Easter Strath, just back along the road a bit is Strathloanhead. My mother was born in that house.

I will go fire up the other computer and see if I can find the photo.

James.

later.

bigjon,
Here are some photos of all that remains of Wester Strath, as you can see its home to the sheep and cows now. Looking at the names you are researching, Reid is fairly common round that area, also I see the name Saunders, I just wrote a message tonight to Andy Saunders who left Lanarkshire in the 1950s to go to South Africa, but that would be too much of a coincidence.

James.
