McCandless family

Hello, I am searching for the ancestors of my McCandless family from Ireland the only two names for the district in Donegal i have are Donagh on a marriage certificate and Carndonagh on the back of a photograph/postcard address, Strathsbridge, Carndonagh.

Jane, George and grandson Walter Mclean are buried in Lambshill cemetery Glasgow.
I have been searching for years and this is as far as i have got.
I would be extremely grateful for the slightest tad of information, thanking you in anticipation. Sugar

Have you looked at the 1901 Census for Donegal? You might be able to work your way back. I see quite a few  families with the name McCandless living in Carndonagh. If you have nothing else it might be worth a try.

Thank you for the information Cyclamen, i just cannot find the link i am looking for, i do think that i need to go to Ireland if i am going to get anywhere at all.

I see that the original message is from 2010; I hope sweet sugar reads this.

My grandmother was born Rebecca Stewart McCandless at Straths Bridge, Carndonagh, Co. Donegal in August, 1894. I believe that Robert McCandless was her grandfather. Her father was Andrew McCandless, her mother born Isabella Stewart (yes, they were first cousins).

What information are you looking for about them? I have some family tree information at home which I will gladly share…if you ever read this post!
