Prince Troubetzkoy, Corfe Castle
« on: Sunday 22 August 10 16:13 BST (UK) »
We are researching Russian emigration to England and on our recent trip to Corfe Castle we came across the grave of Prince Troubetzkoy, Peter Sergeyevich (25.04.1882-1958) and his wife Maria (nee Rodzianko) (17.01.1872-21.10.1958). We were advised that they lived at Harmans Cross after arriving from France.
May be some experts in Dorset area research can point us in the direction where more information can be obtained as the nameis quite noble in Rusia.

He is a relative... My father was Sergei Sergeivich Troubetzkoy.... Will have to check. There is a family tree on Facebook (Troubetzkoy or Trubetzkoy--it may use the alternate spelling as person in charge of the Facebook page does).

Check there...

Then again, how many Troubetzkoys are there? Lods.

When? Why? and so on...

Large family with many famous people throughout history. Lots of ties through marriage, etc. to other countries. Troubetzkoys had connections through the Duchess of Kent, for example . . .

Many left Russia at the time of the Russian Revolution and went where they could. Many had ties in France so they went there initially. From there they scattered across the planet. Many of us in the younger generation(s) have lost touch with other family members and some are reconnecting now.

Check a good encyclopedia for some background information. You'll probably find what you are looking for.

Paul

It reads:

E2. Pr Pyotr, *7.7.1882 (25.6. o.s.), +1958; m.Chisinau, Moldova 4.9.1915 Mariya Pavlovna Rodzianko (*St.Petersburg 17.1.1872, +Corfe Castle, Dorset 21.10.1958), dau.of Pavel Vladimirovich Rodzianko and Pss Maria Pavlovna Galitzina

Which, to my mind says:

Son Pyotr (our Peter) baptised 7 Jul 1882 (born 25 Jun) died 1958.
He married in Chisinau, Moldovia on 4 Sep 1915, Mariya (our Maria) Pavlovna Rodzianko.
Maria was born/baptised in St Petersberg 17 Jan 1872 and died in Corfe Castle Dorset on 21 Oct 1958. She was the daughter of Pavel Vladimirovich Rodzianko and Maria Pavlovna Galitzina.

Are you sure? The dates you posted originally show 1958. :)
