In that case I would suggest you start "trawling" the BMDs.

Go to:

http://images.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/choose.pl

and fill in each possible death date. I'd start with 1960 and look at each quarter, then work backwards until you find his death. Let us know what you find. It will be obvious when you find him. You may have uncovered a mistake in the official records. :)

It IS slow and cumbersome but it is deliberately that way to make it not easy.

Paul

Found him!
death registered in July-August-Sepember 1960 in Poole.
Age 78 years.

Fascinating!! He was living in Poole at the same time as my Grandmother!!! There may be no other information about them. You may find Google a very useful source with such an unusual name.

I thought the cost of a certificate was £9.25 not £9.50.

You are probably right Nanny Jan. I haven't ordered any more since the 11 or so I ordered just before the price went up.

Nanny Jan,

Have you a subscription to FindMyPast? If so could you see if there are any Troubetzkoy's in the passenger lists? We may be able to determine when they arrived in Dorset.

I ordered  one for my father just after the price increase, none since then, so I was hoping they hadn't gone up again.

Sadly I don't have a subscription to any sites;  I wonder if the Dorset History Centre would have any information about their time in the county.
