Looking for marriage record for:     SUSANNAH JONES (poss. Susan)(Jones is her maiden name)  b.1842 Llanbadarn Fawr & JOHN JONES b.1842 Llanilar.    Year range 1860-68.   First child born Sep 1867. Can anyone help?

Are they the 1871 entry showing birthplaces just as Cardiganshire with a 3yr old daughter Alice?

If so - they were then living in the Aberystwyth registration district but that doesn't mean they married there

Yes that is them on the 1871 census.  Alice was born in Aberystwyth district. Have checked on freebmd and not come up with anything that could be them.

The only match for their names is this one

Thanks, yes that is the one I came up with.    I have always assumed that it was them, but when I got a copy of this certificate it wasn't their marriage.  Both their ages differed by several years and also John Jones profession was stated as shoemaker, when in fact he was a lead miner/agricultural labourer!  It seems it is going to be one of those little mysteries that may never get resolved.

Yes.    Her 3rd born child was my grandmother Margaret Anne Jones born 5th July 1874 in Goginan, Melindwr.     It states her name as Susannah Jones formerly Jones.

Just thought I would mention that I recently had a birth certificate with the mothers maiden name down incorrectly.

It confused me for awhile until I gathered more info and realised it was definitely a mistake but as they had been married for 18 years by then  her maiden name could have easily have been forgotten especially as it was stated as Davies instead of Jones both common welsh surnames.
