Well well well... after searching for passenger lists (being pre 1890 not as detailed) I came across a site...

South Africa... and it is too much of a coincidence, however why is there Friedberg in the name - could this be another son as it is a death notice between 1834 and 1951? :)

First Name:...Herbert...
Collection:Free - Cape Estates Death Notice Index

I was going to mention that not all their kids were left in Jersey - there is a Harold registered 1Q1882 born in the Croydon District .... and for whom there is no death registered that I can see.

In the 1881 census posted previously, young Herbert is only shown as initials, which include an 'F'

H.F.Jaurin Vincent 1

Good point about Harold Janvrin in Croydon. The initials H and F are Herbert Frederick and F and A is for Frederick Augustus (My G Grandfather).

That is my mistake, I have had it down as Herbert Frederick. I made the assumption because there are so many Fredericks in the family. Thanks.

There is a reason for Treyford in Sussex. The grandfather of said child was Frederick Augustus Vincent and he was rector of Elsted around that time, and Treyford is part of that Parish. I assume he took the service.

To confirm I did find out that Herbert Friedburg Janvrin Vincent did indeed die in South Africa in 1939. There is a plot at Maitland cemetery, not sure whether the father (Herbert Janvrin Vincent) is there as well. Also I know that he was deceased as of 1903, due to the marriage certificate.
Therefore I am looking for a death between 1881 and 1903, somewhere in the world!

UPDATE
The two boys, Frederick Augustus Janvrin Vincent and Herbert Friedberg Janvrin Vincent were enrolled at Victoria College in Jersey. I have contacted them just on the off chance there may be something in the log that might list their parents as deceased, thus cutting down the window of possible death.
