St Werburgh's Church Hanbury Staffordshire
« on: Saturday 28 August 10 09:56 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Could anyone please help me with a request to photograph a headstone in the grave yard at St Werburgh's Church in Hanbury Staffordshire.

My GGG Grandmother Hannah Phillips wife of John Phillips, died in 09.04.1865 [aged 57], and is buried at grave site B54 with her daughter Catherine Phillips died 12.03.1858 [aged 11].

John Phillips died between March-June 1890 and it would be interesting to establish, if he had also been buried with Hannah.

I know that it is a big ask, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

George

George,

I note that you have not yet had a reply to your post.

Google ' Staffordshire Memorial Inscriptions ' acceaa Hanbury and you will see that John does not appear on the Hannah Phillip's headstone .

Hi George

When the weather gets a bit warmer I will go back and take the photo you requested. I did not see John's name mentioned on the headstone, but I will have a closer look next time. Nearly all the stones have been removed and placed around the churyard wall

Regards
Alf

Hi PC99,

Thank you for your help, as it is appreciated.

I found on http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/STS/Hanbury/MIs.html an entry B54 Hannah, w/o John PHILLIPS, Of Hanbury Woodend, 9 April 1865, 57 and Catherine, d, 12 March 1858, 11.

These people are of the correct lineage, as they did have a daughter Catherine that died in 1858.

Kind regards

George

[Hello, i saw your request for a photo of Hannah Philip's grave at  ST. WERBURGHS Church Hanbury.I don't have a photo.
I have visited this grave as Hannah and John Philips are also my ggg grandparents.
John is on the 1881 census aged 81 living at Hanbury Woodend
with his daughter Mary, son in law Edward Allen,4 daughters and 3 sons plus sister in law Ellen Allen.
I beleive John Philips died in 1889.

Hi George & Yozzer
John Phillips is also my GGG grandfather. I have been researching the family tree and came across your posts. I'll get a photo for you when I can visit the area, not sure when as I'm the other end of England. It looks as if you are in Aus or NZ (from the flag). I'd be glad to share any family info I've got with you both. I found that he is listed in the '1839 Tithe Map & Apportionment of Hanbury' on the website http://www.genuki.org.uk/ - very interesting to see where they lived!
TBC....best wishes,
Pete2
