there's a service record on Ancesty for a Alfred Hawkins from 110 High St, Whitstable a baker born circa 1891.

a pension record exists for a George Henry Hawkins b in the parish of Bridge near Canterbury Sept 1895. Served with the Buffs. Mother listed as Mrs Best, brothers have the surname Hinds. Discharged 1915 due to gun shot wound to arm.

No other service records or pension records for Hawkins in Kent that appear to match.

Quite a few Frederick and George Hawkins in the Royal Army Medical Corps but the medal cards do not give place of birth info.

Which one was an ambulance driver?

You need to look in the Army Service Corps for him.

had  a quick look for records re Essex St, Whitstable; 2 soldiers came up but neither of them Hawkins. 1 soldier came up in the pension records when searching for Whitstable and Essex but not a Hawkins.
