my father was harry davies b 1946 manchester died 2004
his father was also harry davies born march 1922 manchester with parents

Surely the father at the 1946 birth of Harry was Isabella's  husband of the time ?
Harry Davies (b1922) & Isabella (b 1917-ish) have no issue together

Marriages Sep 1936   (>99%)
Cox    Isabella    Dalton    Manchester S.    8d   261
Dalton    James    Cox    Manchester S.    8d   261

(james  ~3 years older than Isabella)

Isabella cox b 1917(or so)

you are getting the harrys mixed up! harry 1946 his mum is Isabella his father is harry 1922,  this family liked wedding cake and at times weren't that bothered in which order they did things, kids or cake first? who cares! was there attitude, Isabella left james Dalton to set up home with harry davies b1922 and married him in 1956 ish, after having several kids first, Isabella had several kids already with james, in total she had 15 kids!

so to clarify things I am trying to find the father of harry davies b 1922 Chorlton, his birth certificate just states fathers name of Thomas davies occ. lime stone quarryman, harrys marriage in 1956 says the same, however I have yet to see any documents for a Thomas davies living at the same address as harrys mother, I cannot find them on the 1939 reg, he isn't mentioned on the half sisters marriage certificates either (well he wouldn't be as he is not their dad) and when harrys b 1922 mother (annie) dies in 1956 she was recorded as annie ellen jones (jones being her first marriage name) by her eldest daughter annie ellen keeley nee jones

Clarify it by transcribing the document(s) as requested.
1952 marriage (not 1956)
the 1946 birth
the 1922 birth

1952 marriage (not 1956) - ok going off my memory holding my hands up! right 1952 marriage is between Isabella Dalton/harry davies b 1922- my grand dad
the 1946 birth is harry davies - my father
the 1922 birth is harry davies - my grand dad

Rather than go "off memory" get the certificates out, and transcribe as requested

the certificates are in the loft, and im not in a position to get them for a long time, transcribing them will achieve nothing, there is nothing on them to give any more info than I already have

There is a tree on Ancestry which states Annie died as Annie Davies on 5/1/1953 Manchester which differs from what you say??
