MILNE, Greenock, James Hutchison Milne b. 1907
« on: Wednesday 01 September 10 07:54 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I'm researching my Scottish family tree from here in the US.

My maternal grandfather was James Hutchison Milne 1907 - 1981.  His parents were James Milne poss. of Aberdeen, and Mary Jane McCabe poss of Dundee.

James 1907 married Elizabeth Williams Bryceland 1912 - 1954 on 24 Dec 1931 and proceeded to have many children, including my mother**.

Elizabeth Williams Bryceland was the daughter of Thomas Bryceland 1890 - 1946 and Elizabeth Williams Mooney 1890 - 1941.

I've been running into dead ends at my gg-grandparents.  Would love to learn more about the Milnes and Brycelands.

Cheers,
Greenock

Re Thomas Bryceland 1890.
Have you seen his Military info WW1?

Signed up 22/8/1914
Discharged Medically Unfit 9/2/1915
Brief description when signed up;
24 yrs and 179 days old
5ft 3 inches, Weight 127 pounds
Fresh Complexion, Red hair, Blue Eyes
Tattoo, Bird on R Arm
Married Elizabeth MOONEY, 24/2/1911 Greenock
Children;
JOHN, Birth 3/4/1911, Baptised 9/4 by Father Ryan
ELIZABETH, Birth 8/9/1912, Baptised 20/9 by Father Ryan

If he was born c 1890 he should appear on the 1891 Census but he doesnt appear too.
Could he have lied about his age at Enlistment for some unknown reason?
The only Thomas Bryceland I can find is on the 1901 census, Greeock, Parents JOHN and ELIZABETH born c 1893.

Trish :)
