I am related to Patrick Crew, and have been wondering about his "step daughters".
Winifred and Michael Allen moved to NSW 1880/81 with their kids, the male members all having middle name Cruise in NZ BDM. They visited Eliza (by now Griffin) and Susanna Crew in Thames in 1879.

According to Winifred's death certificate in 1893, she was the daughter of Peter Cruse, music professor, and Sarah Penrose. She was born in Dublin ~1837, so there is no link to Patrick or his wife Susanna Fitzpatrick.

I would love to hear more about this connection.
