Ask her to have a look. For there to be no information on the informant sounds impossible, unless because of the adoption some fields have been left out.
It should be in column 7. (see here: http://home.clara.net/dixons/Certificates/births.htm )
The name of the informant may be the same as the mother or father's name and the address may be the same as the address of birth (that usually means the birth was a home birth).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandwell_General_Hospital
 - this was originally the infirmary attached to West Bromwich Union Workhouse.

It seems (according to the NA) these people may have some records for Hallam Hospital, perhaps drop them an email:

I believe Maud Perrott Gardner is my grandmother.  My mother, Barbara, born Feb 1, 1927, was the daughter of Maude Gardner.  I have Barbara's birth certificate.  Barbara was adopted two years later by Edward and Alice Bax (all deceased).  I also have that adoption certificate.  Barbara married an American GI and migrated to the US.  This information is brand new to me and I would love to have additional information about my grandparents, Gardner and Perrott.  I would also be pleased to share any information I have.
