Brian,
They are very busy at the register office and have to fit in family history with their normal duties (weddings, etc)  :)

You could try phoning them to find out where you are in the queue? :D
Some of the registers are not indexed so they sometimes have to do manual searches whch take longer. They told me that they always busier following the WDYTYA series!

I now have a copy of a birth certificate for Mary Thomas :- 18 May 1865, Mount, Gwynfe, Llangadock. Father John Thomas, Farmer, mother Margaret formerly Davies.
The last census record that fits most of my knowledge is 1901. RG13/5107 p. 41 as mentioned in an earlier post. I think that she married the William Howells on that entry but have no factual information. I have not got access to the 1911 census which my help. Can anyone aid me with this please?

Sorry Brian, but we are unable to do 1911 lookups for people.

Good news that you have found Mary's birth and have more information which may help you trace her marriage!

I agree with you, that looks like her in 1901 as General Servant Domestic, born Llangadog 1866 age 35. Do you have her in 1881/91?

Kind regards
Morgan

Census records for Mary Thomas before 1901.
1891 has no clear record but RG 12/4467 and RG12/4503 are servant entries but I am not confident with them.
1881 RG11/5380/49
1871 RG10/5474/13 for both of these she is living with her maternal grandparents. I do not know why this was so because the other sibling are at the parental home.  RG11/5380/46

Hello Brian  :)

In 1891 there is a Mary Thomas, born ca1866 Llangadog, age 25, Dressmaker, with her Aunt Elizabeth Davies at Rhydyfro, Llanguicke. Elizabeth is listed as married and Wife rather than Head of household so perhaps the husband has been missed off the form and Mary is the niece of Elizabeth's husband, possibly the brother of Margaret Davies (Mary's Mother)??

:)  I think that I may have found two more pieces of evidence in my search for information.
1:  Probate information from Ancestry.com. William Howells of the Central Temperence Hotel, 5 Carmarthen Street, Llandilo, died 14 July 1923. Probate to Mary Howells, Widow.
2:  1911 census Summary Book. Mr William Howells 5 Carmarthen Street Restaurant  2 males 4 females

Great news  :)

Now you will be able to do an address search on 1911 and purchase the credits to view the image. If you find the correct Mary and William there, you will see how long they had been married, which will help you to track down the marriage!

The William Howells who died in Llandilofawr in 1923 was 81 years old
