Williams, Margaret Ruth
« on: Saturday 11 September 10 05:07 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace my birth mother and expecting that she will no longer be living. On my birth certificate it says only that she was born in Carmarthen. I was born in December 1042 so she was probably born  somewhere between 1910-1924. The certificate does not give a date of birth or other identifying details.

I was born with haemophilia B, a genetic disorder passed on by mothers. If there are any families in or around Carmarthen with this health problem, they could be related. Margaret may have gone on to have other children with or without haemophilia (the chances of a child being affected are 50/50).

I have made contact the grandchildren of  one possible Margaret Williams, but her family say she had no middle name and I have been unable to access DNA samples from her  surviving brother. I need samples from someone with the same mother.

I was born in Bristol and I suspect my birth mother was in Bristol to find work in the War or simply moved to Bristol temporarily to conceal an unwanted pregnancy.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already tried this avenue, but organisations like those are constrained by the dreaded PRIVACY regulations.

Hello

I'm sorry to hear about your haemophilia and that you were not able to get help from your Uncle.

We are not allowed to post details of living people on here - see these threads for hints on finding them:

Thanks Morgan.

Haemophilia has been a bother in my lifetime but is all OK now. Every time I have been in hospital I have seen people much worse off than me, which helps to keep life in perspective.

I have had a great life (now nearly 68), have traveled widely and have a wonderful wife and 2 marvelous children.

It is frustrating that the family I found will not make an effort to help me with tests to decide if they are my family. Up to now all the "evidence" is circumstantial and since the Margaret from their family died in 1971, we can't ask her to confirm or deny.

Thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate the privacy angle, but as I wrote in my first post, it is unlikely that my birth mother will be alive today.

Thanks again.

Hello,

Your post was very recently discovered by my husband and we see similarities between his grandmother and the woman you described.  We would like to find out more information and hope you're still active on this site as it has been two years since your last post.

Thank you!
