Hello again ISK,
Think I'm realising who your grandmother was... Isabella  who married John Reynolds?

Hello Margaret,

You are absolutely right.  How wonderful to find you.  My mum, Isabella, known as Ella, was Isabella and John Reynolds' youngest child.  She died in 1994 and all her brothers and sisters pre-deceased her. I knew I shouldn't have opened these replies as I am just on my way out for the afternoon.  I shall be back in touch this evening.  With very best wishes from a cousin of some kind.

Maureen

Hi Folks.  I'm new to this site and just discovered the discussion re Christian McGlashan. My 5 X grandfather was Archibald MacGlashan married Christian White in Strachur 1760. Their son Duncan MacGlashan (born 1773 Stronchievich? Strachur) married Mary MacLean 1794.
Their children -
Archibald b.1795
Christian b.1797
Donald 1799
John b.1801
Dugald b.1803

Apart from my own line through Donald (1799) I haven't been able to get any more info on the family.  Is anyone else looking at these MacGlashans, Whites or MacLeans?

Hi Chris

I'm stuck as well, but from the names you've given there may well be a connection to my family.  I have Duncan Blair x Christian McGlashan 1767 Strachur.  Their son (my 4 x g-grandfather) Peter Blair married Catherine McLean, 1800 Dunoon and Kilmun, and another son, Donald, married Catherine McGlashan 1814 Glassary.

Christian McGlashan was a tenant in Ardenslate (owned by Duncan Campbell) in 1800, and Catherine McGlashan was a servant to Duncan Campbell when she married.

Duncan and Christian's other children were Thomas, Dugald and Catherine - and possibly a Mary - all born Strachur.

The dates are all around the same time.
