Hello Aileen,
There is still a place called Flemington on the eastern edge of Cambuslang. (Which is south east of Glasgow).
There was also a small mining area to the north of Blantyre known as Flemington. Both places are only a few miles apart. These may be your two Flemingtons.

Hope this helps.

That's the one I knew but looking up Wiki gives this
Quote

Flemington was a small mining community on the outskirts of Uddingston. It existed from the early 1900's until the late 1930's and was located next to the mainline railway line, just off the road that links Blantyre to Uddingston, near Bothwell Castle. Once the mining ceased the village, like many others, ceased to exist and all that remains are the foundations of the pit houses.

Thanks everyone.  I knew about Flemington in Cambuslang as that's where recent family lived but then I had an ancestor with links to Motherwell who gave Flemington as a birthplace and I didn't know if it was a mistake.  His name was John Brown so I was really looking to narrow the places to find him - I can start looking for him in the right parish now as nothing was coming up in Cambuslang!

I think I've found all the Flemington's on a map now - never would have thought that would be such a common name.
