I can move this thread to Ireland-General board rather than multiple threads looking for the same family.

I think part of the problem is the family information you are started your research with- "came from County Derry, Northern Ireland, at Londonderry on the Foyle River. Bogside near the old historic fort of Londonderry. My grandfather played around the old fort."
Bogside is part of Londonderry (city) near the banks of the Foyle and 'the old fort' could refer to the Walls of Derry. This, if corrrect, points to Derry city rather than the Garvagh area and neither is near Armagh (although the family certainly could have moved).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Also, if Catherine Miller was from Garvagh this may be her baptism record from the First Garvagh Prestbyterian Church:
1810
Febr
28 Cathren daughter to Jno Miller of Metican, Parish of Errigle

I think Jno= John?
Does anyone know where Metican is?

The townland is Mettican Glebe, not far out of Garvagh, in Errigal Parish.

August 1818 Garvagh Church visitation list:

Do you know of this village:

Are you looking at the First Garvagh from Bann Valley website? If so, be aware there are loads of transcription mistakes. The Bann Valley site lists Cuilbane as a village (never was) and Mettican as Mettican Bridge (Mettican Bridge appears as a bridge on modern Ordnance Survey maps).
The place names are townlands, not villages. Cuilbane is a townland in Desertoghill Parish, just outside Garvagh.

Can someone look for a family of Thomas Kennedy in the 1831 census for Ballymoughan Townland?
