CLEMENTS and JENKINS families of Aberystwyth
« on: Wednesday 06 April 05 23:52 BST (UK) »
Who was Edward Clements?  I guess he was born about 1795 and was living in Aberystwyth at the time of his daughter Catherine's marriage to William Jenkins 18 Dec 1842.   At that time he was a soldier but nothing more is known about him.   Any info greatly appreciated.
William Jenkin's father Edward is also an elusive character.   Born around 1785 he was a tailor of note in Aberystwyth in the early 19th century.    He was probably overwhelmed by orders for the fashionable 'Welsh trowsers' for the gentry to parade on the Prom in the 1820s, but little else is known of his family apart from the fact that he married Jane Owen 30 Dec 1817.
Is there anyone who has information on these families?  How about some facts on these two genuine Cardis.
