KELLER/EKSTEDT/MILLER FAMILY - South Africa

Hi All

I am looking for any info on the following family:
Keller:
Emma Keller daughter of August and Carolina Keller born Germany 1874 arrived in SA 1878 on board the "Papa". The family eventually moved to Barberton, South Africa where Emma married Jacob Edvard EKSTEDT ( born 1848 Sweden ) and had Stephen, Axel Jacob, Carl Gustav, Sigrid Emma and my g grandmother, Thyra Alice. Jacob died in 1900 and Emma had another child Kathleen. I believe her father was German. He died and she married John Henderson MILLER known as Jock and had Emma, May, Thomas, Flora and Edward. Emma divorced Jock in 1938 and died in 1942 in Machadodorp, South Africa.

I would dearly love to know more about this side of my family. Photographs and records where burnt in a fire so we have no record of these folks and would love to know more.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Amanda

I took a wee look in the Swedish books here in Sweden for your Jacob. You may have already found info on him by now, but anyway.
After reading your posts on other forums I noticed a similarity to this Jacob I found in Enköping in Sweden:

The Jacob I found was born Jakob Anian Ekstedt 17 Nov 1848 and he was a garfvare.... a tanner of some description. (as was his father too).

Jacob disappeared in 1869. I haven't found where to yet. This family is on FamilySearch I noticed too.

This Jakob Anian Ekstedt left Enköping on 1 Nov 1874 for Copenhagen, Denmark.

I read one of your posts on some other forum about him having the name Axel somewhere. I wonder if Axel is an interpretation of Anian or he changed his name to Axel.
