Hi,
I have had experience in getting certificates from Malta back in 2001. Since you have the dates you should have no problems.
The address was Civil Status Section Public Registry, 197 Merchant Street, Valletta, Malta. From memory, the cost was extremely small and the service prompt. I wrote first to ascertain the price and the people were extremely helpful. (I had only approximate dates but they were still able to assist). Regards, Margaret.

In case anyone else is looking for it, the Maltese Public Registry is now on the web at

No help in my case, sadly, as birth, marriage and death registrations only date back to 1863.

"Records prior to that year were drawn up by ecclesiastical authorities and can be found only in church archives. Thus baptismal, marriage and death certificates before 1863 can only be obtained from the relative parishes in Malta and Gozo."

With luck the army's own records will sort me. A trip to Kew, then...

Hello again.

Have still found no record of either wedding or birth(s) - but it occurs to me that probably husband and wife were both Catholics.

Would that have any bearing on their non-inclusion in the Army Returns I wonder?

Shouldn't think so.  My lot were R.C. and their child's birth is recorded.
